DIPLOMA IN COMMUNITY HEALTH
COURSE OVERVIEW
This is a health course which entails equipping trainees with relevant skills, knowledge and
experience with an aim of ensuring competent health officer at community level.
DCH roles among others are to provide primary health care services i.e. immunization, health education
and promotion, training of health volunteers, maternal and child health services at household level,
community need assessment, disease prevention and control, Outreach services, family planning services,
referral services and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs to the community to ensure access and availability of
health care to all.
This course prepares dynamic and competent community health workers who will engage at household and community level
and effectively implement primary health care.

COURSE DURATION
Three (3) years full-time plus three (3) attachments/Clinical Placements at the end of each year in Sub-County Hospitals, County Referral Hospitals and Referral Hospitals respectively across the county.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum qualification: KCSE C - (MINUS)
Minimum of C - (Minus) in Biology
Minimum of D + (Plus) in Chemistry
Course open to Beginners, Community Development workers, Social Welfare Workers and Community health assistants.
